Entrepreneur from Anglesey takes the ‘Gorsedd Dreigiau’ prize.

A young entrepreneur from Anglesey is the first person to win the ‘Gorsedd y Dreigiau’ – a new business competition at the National Eisteddfod in Bala.

Welsh entrepreneurs had the opportunity to present business ideas to a panel of ‘dragons’ in the Eisteddfod (ideas based on the popular TV program ‘Dragons Den’.)

The competitors only had two minutes to sell their business ideas.

There was prize money of £5,000 for the winner, as well as professional business advice to develop their ideas.

Guto Roberts from Benllech, Anglesey was the victorious entrepreneur- with his idea to set up a company called “Y Cwt Trwsio” to repair surfing boards.

Elen Wyn Lloyd from Llanfair, Dyffryn Clwyd, Rhuthun came second. She’s intending on starting a business that combines a healthy lifestyle, keeping healthy and the environment.
Shelly Rees, who is to start a Welsh nursery in Swansea took the third prize.

The judges (or the ‘dragons’) included Gari Wyn (joint founder and owner of the company Ceir Cymru), Margaret Thomas (joint founder and the owner of Cig Oen Aran, Llanuwchllyn), Alun Roberts (one of the directors of the company Maneg) and Elin Rhys (Managing Director of the company Telesgop).
