Ffermio: Treialon y Cŵn

Wales is considered to be home to some of the world’s best sheepdogs, and a new series, Ffermio: Treialon y Cŵn, starting on 24 August, will celebrate the special relationship between shepherds and their dogs.

Suspense-filled sheepdog trials will be held over three programmes, where six young and talented shepherds from across Wales will compete for top dog. The unique course, specially designed for the series, which is produced by the team behind the popular agriculture programme, Ffermio.

There will also be an opportunity to find out more about sheepdogs, and explore other breeds of working dogs, such as those belonging to Dyfed Powys Police, and we’ll hear from some of Wales’s best breeders what makes a good sheepdog.

Ffermio presenter Alun Elidyr will guide us through it all and joining him will be the successful sheep dog breeder from Talybont, near Aberystwyth, Dewi Jenkins. Although a new face to S4C, he is highly regarded in the world of sheepdog breeding and trials. He will be captain of the Wales team at next year’s World Sheepdog Trials and continues to produce some of the country’s most sought-after working sheepdogs. This year he broke the world record for claiming the highest ever price for a sheepdog under a year old.

But who will be crowned top dog? You’ll have to watch to find out!
